Conservative MPs and caretaker leaders must hold the Labour government to account as it is “getting away with absolute murder”.

Conservative MP Iain Duncan Smith told GB News that some of Labour’s comments and decisions since coming to power have caused fear and he is urging the Conservative Party to challenge Starmer and his cabinet.

He told Camilla Tominey: “There are questions to be asked. You have an opposition with people following ministers and a leader of the opposition.

“I would tell them now that they have a job to do. They can’t just walk off stage and wait for the leaders’ debate to take place.

“They have a responsibility to be on the front lines. If they care about this party or this country, even if they don’t run for party leadership or whatever, it’s a public service. They have a job to do.

“Yes, we have lost a lot. That doesn’t mean we’re going to retreat and cry in a corner somewhere.

“This government is getting away with absolute murder at the moment. We need to hunt them down.”
