Silent Film to be Screened at Concord University with Accompaniment by Concord University Professor

ATHENS, W.Va. (WVNS) — A Concord University professor will accompany a silent film to Concord University in September 2024.

Trans-Siberian Orchestra’s The Lost Christmas Eve Tour to Come to West Virginia in 2024

According to a press release, at 7 p.m. on Thursday, September 26, 2024, the silent film The General will be presented at Concord University.

The film will be screened at Concord University in the Anderson Family Theatre inside the Alexander Fine Arts Center, and Concord University Associate Professor of Music Dr. Joseph Marsh, Dr. Jacob Womack, will play piano during part of the film.

According to Concord University, the event is free and the public is invited to attend the show.

According to Concord University, the silent film The General tells the story of Johnny Gray, a Southern railroad engineer, who follows his fiancée Annabelle Lee through train chases and other humorous situations after Northern soldiers accidentally take her away.

Kings of the West Tour to Stop in West Virginia in 2024

According to the press release, Dr. Jacob Womack, who will accompany the film during the performance, transcribed the film’s original piano score for the performance.
