San Francisco AI firm answers call to help fight homelessness – NBC Bay Area

A San Francisco-based company says it’s ready to help fight homelessness with artificial intelligence.

Angela Hoover, CEO of Andi, said her company is up for the challenge.

“One of the things AI can do is help with data-driven prevention and intervention, predicting homelessness and actually helping people before they get to that point,” Hover said.

The idea to use AI comes from Governor Gavin Newsom, who said he would seek help from AI companies to combat homelessness.

But Jennifer Friedenbach, executive director of the Coalition on Homelessness, said technology can’t solve the problem.

“Robots don’t build homes, they don’t build shelters, and that’s really where the energy needs to be, permanent sources of funding, the tech industry could help with that,” Friedenbach said.
