Lady Gaga reveals how fiancé Michael Polansky inspired her to ‘make pop music again’

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Lady Gaga is making a major comeback to pop music, and her secret weapon? Her fiancé, Michael Polansky.

In a stunning interview with Vogue for its October cover, Gaga reveals how Polansky’s passionate impulse rekindled her creative flame, leading to her highly anticipated album, “LG7.”

“Michael is the person who told me to make a new pop album. He said, ‘Honey, I love you. You have to make pop music,'” Gaga said, while waxing eloquent about the man behind her musical renaissance.

Although the album’s title is still under wraps, it is set for release in February 2025, with a tantalizing first single set to drop in October.

According to the Vogue journalist, the song Gaga played for them was described as an “old-school Gaga hit, intense and disturbing, unsettling but also joyful.”

Michael Polansky Wants to Help Keep Lady Gaga’s ‘Fire’ Alive

Michael Polansky, who has always supported Lady Gaga, told the site: “As anyone would do for the person they love, I encouraged her to let herself go to joy. On the Chromatica tour, I saw a flame in her; I wanted to help her keep it alive all the time and start making music that would make her happy.”

“There’s a lot of pain associated with this journey,” the “Bloody Mary” singer said of the album.

“And when I start to explore that pain, it can bring out another side of my art. When I’m here in this studio (Rick Rubin’s Shangri-La), I’m relaxed and I’m able to face my demons and the remarkable thing is… it’s the music. I’m able to hear it back.”

Lady Gaga introduces Michael Polansky as her ‘fiancé’ at the 2024 Paris Olympics

Lady Gaga recalled their first meeting, just before the world was rocked by the Covid-19 pandemic. Polansky met Gaga’s mother, Cynthia Germanotta, in 2019 at a philanthropic event with the Born This Way Foundation.

“My mom met him and said, ‘I think I just met your husband,’ and I said, ‘I’m not ready to meet my husband!’ I never could have imagined that my mom… would have found the perfect person for me?” Gaga recalls.

The couple kept their romance a secret until their grand entrance at the Venice Film Festival for Gaga’s upcoming film, “Joker: Folie à Deux.” Gaga confirmed her engagement to Polansky at the 2024 Paris Olympics, introducing him to French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal as “my fiancé,” and the moment quickly went viral.

“I’ve never met anyone like Michael. He’s so smart and so kind. And his life and mine are very different. He’s a very private man and he’s not with me for any other reason than that we’re meant to be together. But I think what I want my fans to know is that I’m just, like, very happy,” Gaga said.

She opened up about her struggles during “Chromatica,” revealing how Polansky’s unwavering support helped her through a “really dark time.”

“I struggled for many years before this. But everything started to change. Because I had a real friend who saw why I was unhappy and wasn’t afraid to hold my hand. And get to know me. On a very deep level.”

Lady Gaga and Michael Polansky’s bond was strengthened through long phone conversations before the lockdowns and a shared stay at his Malibu home, where they enjoyed a “strange kind of normalcy.”

Nearly five years later, Polansky proposed to her after a day of rock climbing in April, proving that their love story is as epic as Gaga’s pop comeback.

“I was so focused on my career since I was a teenager. And the gift of that time was being able to focus completely on my romantic relationship. I met a completely supportive and loving human being who wanted to know me, outside of Lady Gaga,” she said, celebrating Polansky as the pillar of her pop renaissance.
