Irish Weather: Weather: More sunshine today as temperatures are expected to reach 24 degrees, but Met Éireann warns it will be cooler

Unusually, the hottest day of the summer was recorded on June 24, when the temperature reached 24.8°C.

It’s good news for fans heading to Ireland against England at the Aviva Stadium today as it will be a dry day with a mix of clouds and warm sunshine.

There are only one or two showers possible in the afternoon, mainly in southern areas.

It is still hot today, with maximum temperatures of 19 to 24 degrees.

Tonight will be dry with sunny spells. Clouds will thicken from the west overnight, with scattered drizzle moving towards Atlantic coastal areas.

7-day weather forecast: Monday 2nd to Sunday 8th September

Lowest night temperatures 12 to 15 degrees.

Beach days will be over as it will be windy and mostly cloudy tomorrow with a few light showers possible.

It will be much cooler tomorrow with highs of 14 to 19 degrees dropping to 8 to 11 degrees overnight.

Monday is expected to start with dry and sunny weather.

However, the sky will be cloudy in the west during the afternoon with scattered rain and drizzle developing in the west and northwest.

Highest temperatures are 14 to 18 degrees, dropping to 10 to 13 degrees on a wet and windy night, Met Éireann said.

A band of rain will continue to spread towards southern Ireland on Tuesday, accompanied by sunshine and showers from the north.

The rain band is expected to leave the south coast by late afternoon.

Maximum temperatures of 13 to 17 degrees during the day, with a much colder night than recent times of 6 to 9 degrees.

It will be cool and windy on Wednesday with sunny spells and scattered showers, some of which may be heavy, accompanied by hail and thunder.

Maximum temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees during the day.

Many areas will be dry Wednesday night with clear skies.

“However, there will be some showers in the northwest. Lowest temperatures will be 4 to 7 degrees with moderate northwesterly winds,” Met Éireann added.
