Area restaurants to participate in Penn Highlands College Chef Auction

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (WTAJ) — Several local restaurants plan to participate in an annual chef auction in Johnstown.

The Pennsylvania Highlands Community College Foundation announced that the event will take place on Wednesday, October 9 at 5 p.m. at the Frank J. Pasquerilla Conference Center. It will feature a silent auction and a live auction.

The silent auction will feature many interesting items, including trips to Portugal and Spain. Proceeds from the auction will benefit the university’s Student Support Fund.

“The future of our students,” said Carole VanMeter, director of the Penn Highlands College Foundation. “By supporting this event, you are directly contributing to scholarships that help students achieve their academic and career goals.”

Ace’s, Anthony’s Restaurant, Balance Restaurant, Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center, Harrigan’s Cafe & Wine Deck, Seven Springs Mountain Resort and Sunnehanna Country Club are among the growing list of restaurants.

The auction will also coincide with Penn Highlands College’s 30th anniversary celebration. In 2023, the auction raised more than $53,000 for students and included a $25,000 donation from the 1889 Foundation that matched the $28,000 proceeds.
