Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle Announces Solar Farm Development

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) – During Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle’s 16th State of the City address, he announced the development of a solar power plant.

Battle says the city is working with Huntsville Utilities to build a 200-megawatt solar farm on 800 acres near the Tennessee River.

“This project will not only help ensure a secure electricity grid for our future, it will also help achieve the goal of clean, sustainable energy production,” Battle said. “Huntsville will power its own future with electricity and have the energy security we need.”
