EDM Festival ‘Same Same But Different’ Offers Lifeline to Lucidity Ticket Holders – edhat

As Santa Barbara’s Lucidity Festival faces potential bankruptcy and a permanently canceled event, there is a glimmer of hope for ticket holders left in limbo. In an act of solidarity among festival communities, the organizers of the ‘Same Same But Different’ (SSBD) festival are stepping up to offer a gracious solution.

Lucidity, which has captivated attendees at the Live Oak Campground for the past ten years with its whimsical blend of music, art, and wellness, experienced a financial collapse after their planned event was dashed by fire and safety regulations. The festival had already rescheduled their “Aurora’s Light” themed event to next year at a new Monterey County location due to earlier issues. Still, the ongoing strain from the pandemic and the recent setbacks have created hardships too great for recovery.

Despite strenuous efforts to stay afloat, including personal sacrifices by the organizers and the accumulation of debt, the festival’s revenue challenges have made refunds unfeasible at this time.

Ron Glover, Lucidity’s Festival Director, shared that although they are seeking new investors and are trying to “work refunds out,” the festival was “hit pretty hard” by the June cancellation and subsequent difficulties.

Lucidity festival’s August announcement not only spoke of the imminent end to their journey but also their inability to secure event cancellation insurance in time for the postponement. The post conveyed deep apologies, stating that the organizers had “exhausted every possible option to avoid this outcome.”

In a generous gesture, Same Same But Different has extended an offer to Lucidity ticket holders, providing free General Admission passes to their upcoming festival at Lake Perris State Park, from September 27-29, 2024. SSBD, distinct from Lucidity in financial structuring, is the extending offer as a gesture of goodwill towards the festival-goers who have lost out. Those interested can submit a form with proof of their Lucidity ticket purchase to claim their free pass to the SSBD 2024 event.
