Caldwell School Board to Hold Special Meeting on School Safety

CALDWELL, Idaho — The Caldwell School Board will hold a meeting Monday night to discuss safety concerns stemming from the mass shooting threats that led to the cancellation of Caldwell High’s homecoming parade. The meeting is intended to address the impact of the social media threat, which led to more than 2,700 students staying home Friday. The board will focus on measures to keep students and staff safe in light of these recent events.

We are now learning more about the impact of this social media threat thanks to documents showing that more than two thousand Caldwell students stayed home on Friday.

At Caldwell High School alone, district records show that nearly 75 percent of students were absent.

The Caldwell School District states that the school district takes all threats to the safety of students and staff seriously. We will take all necessary legal and disciplinary action against all perpetrators.

The homecoming game went on as scheduled, but the weekend dance is expected to be rescheduled.
