Delegate Rasoul organizes a workshop on drafting bills

ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) – If you’ve ever wondered what it takes to turn a good idea into legislation, Del. Sam Rasoul (D-Roanoke) wants to help.

Each year, Rasoul hosts a workshop called “Write the Bill.” It allows participants to learn how a bill becomes a law and to work with others to write and lobby for laws.

“There’s definitely a lot of good ideas that come out of this. We’ve been able to get bills passed. And most importantly, people can see what the process looks like,” Rasoul told WDBJ7 in an interview Monday afternoon. “The more you understand, the more you’re able to trust the process and of course, be able to influence it.”

The annual “You Write the Bill” workshop will be held on Tuesday, September 24 starting at 5:30 p.m. in the Community Room of the Melrose Branch Library.
