Alienware Takes on SteelSeries With New Pro Wireless Headset That Uses Hybrid ANC

In a world dominated by the best gaming headsets, it’s hard to bring something to market that deserves a double take, but Alienware may have done just that. The company’s new pro-wireless gaming earbuds are here to turn the tables with a 75-hour battery life on a design that features hybrid ANC and dual-mic AI noise cancellation.

Designed for esports pros, Alienware has partnered with Team Liquid for its marketing campaign. The Pro headset doesn’t pull any punches and offers professional-grade support for both Bluetooth and 2.4GHz channels. It’s built with 50mm drivers coated in graphene to reduce weight, making it more comfortable to wear for extended use, and a detachable mic makes it easy to carry.

Alienware also claims that it leverages Hi-Res Audio certification for its drivers and USB input, and that it comes equipped with professionally tuned audio in the highs, mids, and lows for superior audio quality. Alienware is best known for its wireless mice and pre-built PCs, but it’s venturing into new territory with its Pro Wireless headset. It’s taking aim at brands like SteelSeries and Razer, which dominate the gaming headset market, pushing the envelope with a battery life of 75 hours via Bluetooth and 35 hours via 2.4GHz with ANC enabled.

While respectable, the longest-lasting headset remains the HyperX Cloud Alpha, which offers 300 hours of battery life and costs just $99. The Cloud Alpha does not, however, have hybrid ANC, a feature that allows users to customize and fine-tune the level of active noise cancellation they want.

And that’s not the only form of onboard ANC available, as the Alienware Pro Wireless headset also features microphone noise cancellation, ensuring your teammates hear every word even in noisy environments or in the middle of in-game action. Its dual-mic system also helps further attenuate background noise for optimal communications, even in the middle of a tournament.

But what about build quality? Alienware has stayed true to its principles, aiming to bring the same level of innovation as comfort to its new headset, featuring memory foam leatherette ear cups and a headband optimized to sit comfortably during long gaming sessions while being just as stable.

It also has a sleek look, taking inspiration from the SteelSeries Arctis Nova 5, which remains our highest-rated gaming headset to date. But Alienware could soon dethrone it with three modes, including Bluetooth 5.3 and 2.4GHz connectivity, as well as USB-C, meaning it works with everything from the best gaming PCs to the PS5 — and even smartphones, like the new Apple iPhone 16.

The Alienware Pro headset is set to hit North American stores in October, making it perfect for gaming season and a perfect complement to that new PS5 Pro pre-order. Its starting price is $229, which is pretty good compared to its main competitors like the SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro at $349.
