I Tried the Viral Spotify Bedroom Trend, and My Room Is Deemed a Barbie Paradise

I Tried the Viral Spotify Bedroom Trend, and My Room Is Deemed a Barbie Paradise

If you’re a 90s or even 2000s kid with a passion for music, I’m sure you decorated your room with huge posters of Britney Spears or Led Zeppelin hanging on the walls and album covers of popular bands like Guns and Roses filling the empty spaces in your room. While those days are long gone, there’s a new viral trend that lets you see how Spotify perceives your room.

No, not in a creepy way, but by using this AI tool that analyzes your music listening habits on Spotify or Apple Music and creates a custom-made room adapted to your needs. Yes, I’m not making this up. Think of it as Spotify packed encounter Barbie Dreamhouse AdventureIt’s a weird mix of two things you’d never think of, but Gen Z loves it.

Don’t believe me? Try it for yourself

It all started on Verse which is an AI-powered creative platform for young people. They introduced this new tool “Make Your Internet Bedroom” on their website. Users just need to authorize access to their Spotify or Apple Music accounts.

The tool will then analyze music listening data like artists, most played songs, and playlists (probably). It will then produce an image of a room that matches your musical tastes. If all this sounds like fun and you want to give it a try, here’s a quick guide to help you out.

  1. To create your room, go to fact overflow (website).
  2. Here, click on Connect Spotify Or Connect Apple Music.
  3. Log in to your account and click on Allow to allow Verse to analyze your musical preferences.
  4. Now sit back and relax while Verse creates a stylish room for you.
  1. You can also customize the items in your room. If you like cats, click on the pet option. Then select an adorable little kitten to add to your room.
  • Select an item on the verse
  • Choose the item you want to add
  1. Once you are happy with the changes, simply click Save and share to upload a photo of your room.
  2. You can then share it with your friends so they can see for themselves how Spotify sees your room.

What my Spotify room looks like

So I picked “Pop Princess” and as a guy, the pink decorum is a bit too overwhelming for me, but I can’t deny that the bow on Pritam Da’s poster and the retro radio are a nice touch. I guess that’s what you get when you listen to too many cheesy Bollywood songs and Sabrina Carpenter on repeat.

Bedroom Verse AI

You can click on any album cover to hear a snippet of the song, but that’s not the best part. You can still customize the room to your liking. Like I said, the pink and glittery wallpaper is too much for me, so I decided to trade in my fluffy doggie for a big cockroach for a change.

And then the madness unfolded when I replaced the cute doll with a Gojo figurine, the matcha frappuccino with a bottle of stool softener, and the flower vase with a giant green gummy bear (probably the reason I would need stool softener). I also got rid of the fluffy pink chair and, like a true Chad, bought myself a gaming chair. This was the end result.

Spotify's Weird Room

Okay, maybe I got carried away, but there are more customization options available if you download their app.

What is the purpose of all this?

From what I’ve seen so far, this is a pretty harmless trend. It’s kind of like how we share our Spotify covers with others, but in a new and fun way. Some people might use it as inspiration to design their room based on this idea. And some people even compare it to their IRL room.

There’s no method to this madness. These are just things we have similar to one of those other apps that show your Spotify music streaming habits in a unique twist like we’ve seen in the past with Spotify Iceberg, DNA chart, or Recieptify. And I guess it’s just fun to share what you’re listening to and discover other people’s music preferences.

The curiosity of finding out how Spotify sees your room is the same as finding out which Game of Thrones character you are by solving an internet quiz. I know that sharing my room with my friends is probably going to lead to way too many princess jokes in the future. But I get the idea of this trend now, and I suggest you try it too, and see what Spotify could look like in your room.
