Coronation Street is set to air next week with an unexpected ending in Joel Deering’s storyline. DS Swain will announce the villain’s death after uncovering disturbing evidence, although Joel’s ex-fiancée Dee-Dee Bailey fears all may not be as it seems.

On Friday, September 27, Joel failed to show up for his plea hearing and the judge subsequently issued a warrant for his arrest.

Meanwhile, a visibly drunk Joel locked himself in Roy’s Rolls, where he expressed his “guilt” to cafe owner Roy Cropper – who was wrongly imprisoned for killing Lauren Bolton. It soon became apparent that Joel was pretending to be drunk.

He later recorded a message for Dee-Dee, telling her he still loves her, before the camera revealed a large wound on his face. What is Joel planning?

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and is broadcast on ITVX.
