“My most beautiful son”: the daughter of the late rock icon announces the birth of a little boy

Frances Bean Cobain Hawk, the only daughter of late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain and Hole singer Courtney Love, welcomed a baby boy on September 17 with husband Riley Hawk, the eldest son of skateboarding legend Tony Hawk, according to published reports.

Hawk, 31, a professional skateboarder, and Cobain, 32, a visual artist and musician, married last October in a ceremony officiated by Cobain’s godfather and REM frontman Michael Stipe.

Kurt Cobain committed suicide at age 27 in 1994 when Frances was just 20 months old. She marked the 30th anniversary of his death in an Instagram post last April.

“I wish I knew my father,” she wrote. “I wish I knew the cadence of his voice, how much he loved his coffee, or the feeling of being snuggled up after a bedtime story. I always wondered if he would have caught tadpoles with me in the humid Washington summers, or if he smelled like Camel Lights and strawberry Nesquik (his favorites, I was told).
