Garba event interrupted: Indore controversy fueled by right-wing push

In Indore, a Garba event planned for Navratri was abruptly canceled after objections from a right-wing group over the role of a Muslim man in the organizing committee.

Bajrang Dal, a youth wing of the Vishva Hindu Parishad, claimed the event was aimed at promoting “love jihad” and demanded police intervention. This cancellation marks the first time in 36 years that the event will not take place.

Organizers deplore the decision, citing undue pressure and concerns over religious controversy. Despite police authorization, they chose to cancel to avoid further conflict.
