As Strictly Come Dancing continues tonight, fans are likely to scrutinize the behavior of one couple in particular – Wynne Evans and Katya Jones.

After last Saturday’s show, eagle-eyed viewers pointed out some strange and very awkward moments that happened between the pair on live television.

In front of around six million fans, opera singer Wynne, 52, placed his hand on Katya’s waist and continued reaching around her belly until she removed it with a smile on her face.

Viewers also noticed Wynne’s failed attempt to secure a high-five from her 35-year-old pro partner, to which she made a rather impressed face before turning to the camera with a smile as if nothing had happened.

Given the fallout Strictly has faced this year with the investigation into Amanda Abbington’s formal complaints about Giovanni Pernice, as well as Graziano Di Prima’s departure from the show after confessing to kicking his celebrity partner, Zara McDermott, people are more prepared than ever to look for any signs of discomfort or unhappiness.

However, it must be said that both Wynne and Katya have repeatedly denied that he has engaged in any type of “inappropriate” or upsetting behavior.

They even took to social media after the show with a video to deny any feud and try to nip things in the bud.

‘Hey guys. This is Wynne and Katya”, they began, side by side, still in their show clothes.

“We just wanted to say that we were just messing around at the Claudatorium on Saturday night and we wanted to say sorry, it was a silly joke,” Katya explained.

Wynne chimed in: “Yeah, sorry!”

The singer then admitted on BBC Radio Wales on Monday that he was “heartbroken” over speculation about his behavior, which had been “totally misinterpreted”.

‘I am absolutely heartbroken by the things that have been written about me in the last few days.

‘It’s not nice living in those times, but basically Katya and I are very, very close and we’re good friends, and on Saturday night we made a stupid joke. It was a stupid joke gone wrong, okay, we thought it was funny. It wasn’t funny. It was completely misinterpreted.

He asked people to look at Katya’s own response on her social media, noting that “she wasn’t offended at all” and “doesn’t feel uncomfortable.”

“We have a brilliant friendship, an absolutely close friendship, and I’m sorry if anyone was offended by that, but it was a joke and yeah, that’s all there is, there’s no real story, really,” he added. .

“And I feel weird apologizing because I feel like I didn’t really do anything.”

He agreed he had ‘misjudged’ when interviewed on Radio Wales Breakfast before starting his own show on the station, and confirmed he was ‘absolutely still ready for’ Strictly.

When he and Katya later appeared on Strictly’s companion show It Takes Two, she also described it as ‘utter nonsense’ as she jumped to her partner’s defense at the start of their interview together.

She also said she was devastated to be “sitting here watching this man be portrayed as someone he is not.”

However, Wynne fell out of favor with bookmakers. After standing out as one of the favorites to win first place, after a series of well-defined and entertaining routines, he is now in danger of getting the chop this Sunday.

Only Morning Live doctor Punam Krishnan and footballer Paul Merson are ahead of him.

Former Strictly star Ola Jordan also expressed similar concerns about Wynne and Katya’s fate in the competition.

“It’s tricky because I would never have thought they would be in the bottom two, but after the incident that happened this week, maybe it’s at risk this weekend.

“The public don’t like being messed with, if they think something is going on they simply won’t like it and won’t vote for them,” she told Mecca Bingo.

However, she expressed that she hopes not, calling them “a good couple” who is “doing well.”

“I really liked the Tango they did last week, so it would be a shame if they were in the bottom two,” she added.

Strictly Come Dancing continues tonight at 6:25pm on BBC One.
