Real Madrid plot shock Alexis Mac Allister move to replace Toni Kroos as Liverpool ace's release clause emerges

LIVERPOOL midfielder Alexis Mac Allister is a target for Real Madrid.

But the Spanish giants are preparing to take on World Cup winner Argentina next year.

Reports in Argentina claim there have already been contacts between Real and Liverpool, but no firm offers have been received at Anfield.

And the Spanish title winners and Champions League runners-up are believed to view Mac Allister as the man to fill the void when long-serving midfielders Luka Modric and Toni Kroos leave the Bernabeu.

Real are currently in talks with Modric to extend his stay in Madrid for another year.

The Croatian maestro, who turns 39 in September, would be happy to accept a lower salary in order to continue his time at the club for a 13th season.

Kroos is also in talks with Real, in his case over a one-year extension that would keep him until 2025.

Mac Allister joined Liverpool from Brighton for an initial fee of £40m last year, in a deal that could be worth up to £52m.

The Argentine press claims he has a release clause of around £60m which Real or any other club could activate.

Mac Allister has made 32 Premier League appearances for the Reds this season, and 45 in all competitions.

He has been a key part of Jurgen Klopp’s new midfield, scoring four Prem goals and providing five assists.

With the departure of Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita last summer, Klopp had to step into a whole new engine room.
