Jodie Comer reveals how X Factor’s Cheryl inspired role 28 years later

Jodie Comer has revealed that a former judge on The X Factor inspired her role in 28 Years Later.

The star, best known for her role as Villanelle in Killing Eve, was announced alongside Jack O’Connell, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ralph Fiennes and the return of Cillian Murphy for the film, which follows 28 Days Later and 28 days. Weeks later.

With Comer now fully preparing for her role, the star revealed to Elle that she had a unique inspiration for her role, citing former X Factor judge and Girls Aloud member Cheryl as an influence when trying to cast master a dialect.

“I’m excited to finish the first day. Danny (Boyle) seems like such a confident, intuitive and intelligent director,” she said of the new film. “The original was so beloved, so I try not to think about it too much. I don’t have too many expectations of myself.

Comer, who will soon be seen on the big screen in The Bikeriders, previously spoke about the upcoming project, which sees Boyle and writer Alex Garland team up for the first installment of a planned trilogy.

“After meeting Danny (Boyle), he is incredibly self-assured, confident and innovative,” he said. “As an actor, being on set with someone like that leading the charge is so exciting. I remember seeing 28 Days Later and I was so struck by how it was so grounded in reality.

“It was more about the exploration of us as a species, how we behave and how we react. I felt like there was a lot of emotional truth to the film that really grounded it. This is also what I felt when reading this scenario.

There is no release date for 28 Years Later.
