He was handcuffed and taken to the police station after officers stopped him early in the morning when he failed to stop at a stop sign.

Stony faced as he was first seen, Justin did not react as he left a New York court with his lawyer Ed Burke after learning he had been charged.

He was wearing a cap and sunglasses and was likely wearing the same clothes he was arrested in.

Justin faces up to a year in prison if convicted.

The 43-year-old is due back in court in the Big Apple on July 26, the same evening he is due to take the stage in Krakow, Poland, to kick off the European leg of Forget Tomorrow World Round.

Justin is also scheduled to play in town the following night.

Insiders told The Sun he was desperate not to cancel the shows.

A source said: “Justin’s team will be working to see if they can ensure he can perform in Poland.

“Currently, he is due to appear in court on the same day he begins the European leg of his tour. He’s supposed to play there two nights.

“He won’t want to disappoint his fans.”

Justin, who has two children with his actress wife Jessica Biel, was spending an evening in New York’s upscale Sag Harbor with friends at the American Hotel before he was arrested.

He was arrested by the police yesterday morning around 12:30 a.m.

Justin failed to stop at a stop sign, leading police to arrest him.

He was handcuffed and arrested at the side of the road after allegedly refusing to take a test to determine whether he had an alcohol level above or below the legal limit.

In court, Justin was charged and released without bail.

As well as being charged with drink-driving, the court heard how he drove through a stop sign and allegedly failed to stay in his own lane.

Justin is currently on his The Forget Tomorrow world tour and last performed in Miami on Saturday night.

He is scheduled to return to the stage in Chicago on Friday evening.

A source who saw Justin leaving the American Hotel said: “Justin was out for dinner with friends and there were police cars parked outside the restaurant, as is the case most nights.

“They are looking for people who leave after midnight and who may have been drinking.

“Justin left at 12:30 a.m. and was arrested.

“No one was injured and there was no drama.”

Justin, who rose to fame on the Disney Channel alongside his former girlfriend Britney Spears, will tour the UK in August.

It includes performances in Manchester, Birmingham and two dates at London’s O2 Arena.

Prior to his solo career, which saw him achieve top 20 UK singles, including four No. 1s, Justin was part of the American boyband NSYNC.

His biggest hits include Sexyback, Mirrors and My Love.
