Fans wonder ‘why doesn’t he wait until after?’ as die-hard England fan updates his mistaken tattoo… but it could be another mistake

A die-hard England fan has been told by fellow fans that he should have waited until after his latest tattoo.

England booked their place in the Berlin final with a 2-1 win over the Netherlands on Wednesday.

Substitute Ollie Watkins scored the winner in the 90th minute in what many consider to be the country’s greatest sporting moment in generations.

Gareth Southgate is now expected to name the same team that started against the Dutch against the Spaniards as he seeks to end a 58-year wait for glory.

The fans are convinced that our boys can succeed and be crowned European champions.

However, one person named Ben is extremely positive about our chances of doing business with us and has already tattooed it on his body.

And this is despite several big mistakes already made with this ever-expanding tattoo.

The supporter in question had written on his body “England, World Cup winners”, an inscription he apparently obtained before the 2018 semi-final against Croatia that Southgate led our team to.

Below that he had that year etched on him, and that has now also been followed by ‘2022’ – where the Three Lions were beaten in the quarter-finals by France.

In the meantime, he has also added a few more elements after his mistake six years ago.

It now has “Euros” written on the right, and it has “2020” written below it.

England stars put their best foot forward in the final training session ahead of Sunday’s Euro 2024 final against Spain in Berlin

Even this is technically false as Euro 2020 was actually postponed by a year due to Covid.

Anyway, these three dates are now crossed out as well.

But the supporter dared to get a tattoo of “2024” underneath, in a bold display of confidence.

Award-winning Hertfordshire-based tattoo artist Brux Tattoos has revealed his ink work on his Instagram account.

Showing a clip of the finished piece, they captioned it: “Go England!”

“Thanks Ben, I love the optimism, mate.”

And it didn’t take long for other fans to join in the comments.

It’s not pretty, you could say, but England are in the final… and we’re peaking at the right time, says Jack Wilshere

AFTER what has been a difficult tournament, what an opportunity Gareth Southgate and his team will have to finish in the best possible way, writes Jack Wilshere.

We might like a team that plays better football, but it’s a question of results.

Germany, Italy, France, Portugal and of course Holland would like to be where we are.

People will say we are lucky because we are on this side of the draw.

But we won the group, France didn’t, and then they met Spain.

You can say it wasn’t so pretty, but here we are.

Gareth and his coaches must not have been happy with some of the performances.

But I liked the way Gareth and his team handled the situation.

There was no panic as we left the camp.

Everyone gave the same message: “We know we can do better, but we are still here.”

And on Sunday they will be in Berlin to face Spain.

They will probably need to produce two halves as good as the first against the Netherlands to beat them.

We got better as the tournament went on and that’s how you win things.

You want to reach your peak in the finale.

If Gareth can lead England to that major trophy we’ve all been waiting for, it will be the perfect answer to the critics and a brilliant day for us all.

One wrote: “Why doesn’t he wait until after? Won’t there be enough time when it happens?”

Another joked: “This tattoo will have another red line this Sunday.”

A third said he had “brought bad luck” while others said they “loved that confidence”.

While others were also annoyed that he completely ignored the Lionesses’ Euro 2022 triumph.

One said: “Dude, England WON in 2022, people are just ignoring it because it was the women’s team for some reason.”

As another said: “It should be added that it is the men’s team that is at fault. The women won.”
