Sterling man arrested after lighting fire, barricading himself in room and sparking manhunt, police say

STERLING, Ill. (KWQC) – A Sterling man is in custody after fleeing officers and barricading himself in a room that caught fire. A manhunt was then conducted in Whiteside County.

On Wednesday around 3:45 p.m., Alan Marshall, 48, was arrested by the Sterling Police Department in the 100 block of East LeFevre Road on a Whiteside County warrant for arson residential, arson and aggravated arson, according to a news release. of the police. Additionally, Marshall was arrested for aggravated domestic battery and unlawful restraint.

Marshall was wanted in connection with the Sept. 25 incident in the 600 block of West Fifth Street, police said.
