FFF will remain silent amid Kylian Mbappé rape allegations from Swedish media

France captain Kylian Mbappé (25) is the target of accusations from the Swedish media amid an investigation into an alleged rape, which happened while he was in Stockholm last week. The French Football Federation (FFF) has not commented on the situation, nor is it expected to do so, as L’Equipe reports.

Mbappé’s trip to Stockholm controversially coincided with The blue ones UEFA Nations League game against Israel, which he missed while recovering from a thigh injury. The alleged rape took place at the hotel where the Frenchman was staying, on October 10th. The report of Aftonbladet in Sweden did not mention Mbappé as a subject of police investigation, contrary to a police report Express later that night, which stated otherwise. Speaking to the AFP, The Real Madrid striker’s entourage stated that they were unaware that he was the subject of any investigation. Confirming the investigation, the Swedish prosecutor did not mention Mbappé’s name.

Mbappé denounced the initial report of Aftonbladet as “FAKE NEWS” while his legal representatives went on national television in France on Tuesday night to defend their client. “He didn’t do anything wrong,” his lawyer, Canu Bernard, said TF1.

FFF does not want to comment on Mbappé’s situation in the heat of the moment

The blue ones coach Didier Deschamps also reacted to the reports, following the victory over Belgium on Monday night. “Right now, (the stories) are coming from everywhere anyway. News, fake news, I don’t know. It is difficult. He is big enough to communicate. We have an environment that is very negative. You have to be careful when conveying things. I’m not saying I know because I don’t know,” said Deschamps.

He added, “It’s best to take a step back before publishing anything. However, there are things that are not difficult to verify, but if you give credit to anyone… I am taking a step back, but it is not good for the French team.”

However, FFF chief Philippe Diallo is yet to make any comment on the ongoing situation. According to L’Equipe, Diallo is following developments in the media, although he does not have his own sources on the story. He is not expected to comment on the situation so soon, in the heat of the moment.
