Juventus issue statement after ‘hacked’ social media account announces shock Real Madrid signing

Juventus have confirmed that one of their social media accounts was hacked after appearing to confirm the signing of highly-rated Real Madrid striker Arda Guler.

Fans of both clubs were in for a huge shock on Monday afternoon when the Serie A side’s English account X appeared to confirm the signing, even though the next transfer window doesn’t officially open until January.

“Welcome to Juventus, Arda Güler! Football’s rising star is now part of the Juventus family,” the post read, featuring a photo of the 19-year-old Turkish international walking on a catwalk.

However, Juventus moved quickly to put an end to the rumors, clarifying that their account had been hacked.

“Our Juventus English account has been compromised,” Juve said.

“Please ignore the false information posted on this account. We are working on the matter.”

Guler moved to Real Madrid for an initial fee of €20m (£16.6m, $21.6m) from Turkish side Fenerbahçe at the start of last season and scored six goals in 12 appearances during his first season at the club before enjoying a debut summer for Turkey at Euro 2024.

Guler, which is now valued at €45 million (£37.4 million, $48.6 million – as per Transfer market), scored a superb goal in a 3-1 victory over Georgia in that competition, as Turkey reached the quarter-finals before being eliminated by the Netherlands.

Guler struggling for game time under Ancelotti

Despite making a huge impression last season and attracting many new admirers with his performances in Germany over the summer, Guler has struggled to become a regular starter for Real so far this season.

In fact, he started just three times under Carlo Ancelotti and was an unused substitute in Real’s 2-1 away win over Celta Vigo on Saturday, finishing second behind Barcelona. at the top of the LaLiga table.

All three of Guler’s appearances this season have come in the league, although he is hoping for more game time in Tuesday night’s Champions League clash with Borussia Dortmund at the Bernabeu.

Juventus, meanwhile, are currently third in Serie A – three points behind leaders Napoli – after a late own goal led to a 1-0 victory over Lazio on Saturday.

Latest Juventus transfer news: Arsenal get boost from Vlahovic / Shock Zirkzee move discussed

Arsenal are aware that they could sign Dusan Vlahovic for £50m or less next summer if he does not agree a new contract with Juventus by then.

Vlahovic has long been on Arsenal’s radar. They were keen to sign him in the winter of 2022, but saw Juve beat them to the then Fiorentina striker’s trap.

Vlahovic impressed in Turin and the Gunners kept an eye on him.

According to Caught out of play reports, there is a feeling that Arsenal could secure a bargain for Vlahovic if he does not agree a new deal with Juve by the summer.

Meanwhile, Juventus were told to make a January loan move for Manchester United striker Joshua Zirkzee – despite the Dutch striker signing for Erik ten Hag’s men just a few months ago.

Man Utd secured Zirkzee’s services from Bologna this summer for £36.5 million (€42.5 million, $47.7 million), but so far he has scored just one goal in 10 appearances in all competitions.

Now West Ham legend Paulo Di Canio has revealed why Juventus should look to bring the 23-year-old to the Allianz Stadium during the winter transfer window.
