Meet the Leader of LockBit, the “Most Active Ransomware Gang Ever”

Cybercrime hunters have unmasked the alleged leader of LockBit, a hacker network dubbed “the most active ransomware group of all time.”

LockBit gained global notoriety by detaining victims data ransomware and ransomware-as-a-service, through which it licenses malware to others the Pirates.

According to Europol, the gang was behind the most deployed ransomware in the world in 2022, causing billions of euros in damage.

Among the most high-profile victims are American aerospace giant Boeing, Britain’s Royal Mail and German automobile giant Continental. Russian entities, however, are conspicuously absent from the list of targets.

It is therefore not surprising that the alleged mastermind of the gang is a Russian national.

In his online life, he used the pseudonym LockBitSupp. In the real world his name is Dmitry Khoroshev.
