Who and where is the leader of LockBit?

Britain’s National Crime Agency (NCA) exposed Khoroshev on Tuesday. The agency claimed he was the LockBit administrator and developer.

Khoroshev was also suspected of writing a message declaring his support for Donald Trump. THE questionable support emerged in February after a coalition of law enforcement disrupted LockBit operations. The takedown compromised the gang’s “core platform and critical infrastructure”, Europol said.

A few days later, the alleged leader of LockBit wrote an article on the Dark Web blaming his “personal negligence and irresponsibility” for the infiltration. The message also included an apparent list of victimized companies and this questionable support for Trump.

Khoroshev was so confident of his anonymity that he promised a reward of $10 million (€9.3 million) to anyone who could reveal his identity. By showing his confrontthe ANC has removed its veil.

The agency also hopes that this unmasking will provide evidence on his whereabouts.

“The NCA has clearly reached a series of dead ends in its investigations and the unmasking of the LockBit leader could potentially kickstart a wave of new leads,” Jake Moore, global cybersecurity advisor at Slovak software company ESET, told TNW .
