“The Locher Room” honors Marj Dusay with a special tribute featuring Vincent Irizarry, Ron Raines and Nicholas Walker

On Thursday May 9 at 3:00 p.m. ET/12:00 p.m. PT, podcaster Alan Locher will be joined by several friends and former co-stars of Marj Dusaythe beloved actress who played such memorable characters as Alexandra Spaulding on “Guiding Light” and Vanessa Bennett on “All My Children,” among others, for a special tribute episode of “The Locher Room” dedicated in her honor .

Actors Vincent Irizarry, Ron Raines And Nicholas Walkereach of whom played a family member of one of Dusay’s characters throughout his daytime drama career, are expected to appear in the live show.

In “All My Children,” Irizarry played David Hayward, the eldest child of Dusay’s scene-stealing character. He played a similar role in “Guiding Light”, where he appeared as Alexandra’s twins, Brandon “Lujack” Luvonaczek and Nick McHenry-Spaulding. In the CBS soap opera, Raines played Alan Spaulding, Alexandra’s brother.

Dusay made her foray into daytime television when she took over the role of Myrna Clegg on “Capitol” in April 1983, replacing actress Carolyn Jones. Remaining on the series until its final episode in March 1987, Dusay’s character was the mother of Walker’s character Trey, a presidential hopeful who made his rivals uncomfortable at every turn.

Born Marjorie Ellen Pivonka Mahoney on February 20, 1936, in Hays, Kansas, Dusay was the second oldest of six children. While married to her first husband, John Murray Dusay, from 1956 to 1965, the couple had two children. In 1972, Dusay would marry her second husband, Thomas Allen Perine Jr., with the couple remaining together until Perine’s death in May 1987. Dusay died on January 28, 2020 at the age of 83 in New York.

In addition to “All My Children,” “Capitol” and “Guiding Light,” Dusay also had roles on soap operas such as “Dallas,” “Santa Barbara” and “Days of our Lives.” Outside of daytime, Dusay has appeared in films and on prime-time television, including “Star Trek,” “Bonanza,” “Hawaii Five-O,” “The Odd Couple” and “The Facts of Life”, just to name a few.
