Geneva watch fair canceled due to coronavirus

ZURICH (Reuters) – The Watches & Wonders watch fair in Geneva will not take place this year due to the spread of the coronavirus epidemic, the Fondation de Haute Horlogerie (FHH) which organizes it announced on Thursday.

“In view of the latest developments concerning the global spread of the Covid-19 coronavirus, it is the duty of the FHH (…) to anticipate the potential risks that travel and large international gatherings could entail,” indicates the FHH in a statement.

The show, dominated by Richemont brands like Cartier and IWC, was initially scheduled to take place from April 25 to 29. The cancellation poses an even bigger question mark over rival event Baselworld, which is scheduled to open on April 20.
