MEMPHIS, Tenn. – An $8,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of the person responsible for a hit-and-run that left three people dead.

An additional $4,000 was announced by CrimeStoppers of Memphis and Shelby County on Wednesday, May 15, bringing the grand total to $8,000. The additional reward was provided by the family of Cooper Thomez, a student who was struck by a bicycle at Sam Cooper in 2023, CrimeStoppers said.

“The detectives couldn’t solve his case,” said his father, Curtis Thomez. “We want to put the money we offered in this case toward another hit-and-run in hopes of helping other families get justice.” »

The hit-and-run occurred on August 3, 2023 on Southern Avenue near Liberty Bowl Stadium around 1 a.m. Three men were attending a motorcycle rally in Liberty Park and were on their golf carts when they were struck by a stolen gray Chrysler 300. golf carts were carrying fuel for a generator, according to CrimeStoppers, and one cart caught fire. Tommy Roper, Adam Hawkins and James Stokes all died in the hit-and-run. Another man was injured, according to CrimeStoppers.

Four people got out of the stolen Chrysler and ran away.

Memphis police are investigating the case as a homicide and are still working to identify those responsible.
