After seeing Sabrina Carpenter and Jake Gyllenhaal together in an SNL commercial, people can't and won't stop referencing Taylor Swift's "All Too Well"

When it came to choosing the final Season 49 Host and musical guest of the year Saturday Night Live I really went there. Whether intentional or not, pairing Jake Gyllenhaal with Sabrina Carpenter caused a wave of reactions on the Internet due to their one-on-one relationship with Taylor Swift. Now, as the episode prepares to air and fans watch the commercial that features the two of them, they can’t stop (and won’t stop) referencing “All Too Well” .

Although Gyllenhaal and Carpenter don’t have a storyline per se, they are both important people in Taylor Swift’s world. THE Relay the actor is infamous alleged ex she sings about in “All Too Well” and the “Espresso” singer was opening for the pop star on the Eras tour for a few months earlier this year. So, as you can imagine, when the ad below dropped, the jokes about how they are both related to the president of The Department of Tortured Poets were flying left and right.

Some of Taylor Swift’s Most Heartbreaking and Heartbreaking Songs brutal words comes from “All Too Well,” and the ten-minute version of the song that chronicles the collapse of that relationship is a Swifties favorite. With all of this in mind, and considering the irony of this duet, many can’t help but use the popular song in their posts about the episode of SNL it’s about to be broadcast on the TV schedule 2024. For example, @kissofbabylon posted:

Of course, they can’t let go, and they still remember that scarf. So when this ad was dropped, many took to social media to post reactions such as @repttpdslut’s:

I bet your sister’s house is where my other scarf is

Keeping things related to the famous scarf that was still at her sister’s house, @toowellbrina had an admittedly funny joke about Carpenter and Gyllenhaal being seen in the same commercial. They posted:

Sabrina, go get that scarf and run

There were a lot of other comments about how people thought Carpenter looked uncomfortable in the video. However, we can neither confirm nor deny this. This post, however, seems to allude to this speech which also took place when the ad was released.

Along with the “All Too Well” tweets, there were numerous references to Sabrina Carpenter’s hit song “Espresso.” In the case of @aloveaspureasit’s post, they decided to mix the two by writing:

I sip my espresso like you’re on a late night show

Playing off Swift’s lyric “sipping coffee like you’re on a late night show” is honestly kind of genius. “Espresso” is a funny alternative word for coffee in this case, considering Carpenter’s song, and the lyrics as a whole fit because, as we all know, Saturday Night Live is a legendary late night show.

Of course there were also messages rewrite of Carpenter’s “Nonsense” release to refer to Gyllenhaal and Saturday Night Live. @Melissa_C19 had an option for the singer, as they posted:

An absurd output like: I’m here tonight to host SNL. I think my co-host knows this all too well.

If Sabrina Carpenter actually performed “Nonsense” with an outro like that, I think she would be considered one of the SNL most memorable musical guests. However, I highly doubt she will call the host.

I think she’ll perform “Nonsense” during the episode, along with her hit “Espresso,” and I’m sure she’ll have a cheeky outro worth listening to. Meanwhile, I’m sure the Taylor Swift jokes will continue to swirl, because if there’s one thing that’s true when it comes to Swifties, they remember everything “too well.”
