Brownstown City Council to meet

The Brownstown City Council is scheduled to meet Monday at 6 p.m. at City Hall, 116 E. Cross St.

Agenda items include discussion of a 13% rate increase for Rumpke’s collection of waste/recyclables. The increase would take effect July 1 and be valid until July 1, 2025, at which time the company is seeking an additional 4% increase for the following year. The current rate is $17. The rate for 2054-2025 would be $19.25 — $13.50 for solid waste collection and $5.75 for recyclable material collection.

Scott Hunsucker, Brownstown Wastewater Superintendent, will also discuss a project to relocate a force main and Town Attorney Zach Miller will receive email briefings on the sale process for the city ​​property. The council requested the information during a discussion about possibly selling the building that houses the city’s senior center at 124 S. Main St.
