Wife of man shot in North Memphis shooting | News

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – A man is speaking out after his wife was grabbed and beaten during a shooting in North Memphis.

“I hate being the person who walks around with a gun in his waist wherever he goes. I really don’t think it would help anything, but at this point I’m really willing to do anything to protect myself and mine,” Pervis Quinn said.

Quin said he had lived in the same house in the Speedway Terrace National Historic District in Memphis for decades, but what happened to him and his wife last week had them both exploring options.

He and his wife were caught in a shooting on Greenlaw Street while walking their dog.

“A car shot at us after we heard the gunshots. She was immediately ready to go home, so we started walking towards the house, and they just started shooting at us,” Quinn said .

Quinn said one of the men shot his wife multiple times.

“I’m trying to chase her. She took off running. I’m trying to chase her. The dog was barking and going crazy. I mean, it was total chaos,” he said.

Quinn said the crime happened right in front of that church.

“This neighborhood had a family in every house. When you look around, some of the houses are boarded up. I mean, it was a wonderful neighborhood to live in to raise a family on drugs, crime increased and everything just started going downhill from there,” he said.

He mentioned that his wife is against having guns, but wants to buy one to protect them.
