Scooby-Doo draws inspiration from the anime for Go-Go Mystery Machine

Warner Bros. Animation seeks to give the long term Scooby Doo franchise an anime-inspired revamp for its next incarnation, with Variety reporting that Scooby and Shaggy are heading to Japan for the spinoff series Go-Go Mystery Machine.

“We have seen many iterations of Scooby over the years, but nothing like this,” said Stacey Kim of Warner Bros. Animation and Cartoon Network Studios. “It is Scooby does anime.

The official description for the upcoming animated series reads: “While visiting Japan on the ultimate gastronomic adventure, Shaggy and Scooby-Doo unwittingly unleash hundreds of mischievous mythical monsters who are now causing trouble in all the countries. Scooby turns to his uncle, Daisuke-Doo, his magical friend Etsuko, and gadget wizard Toshiro to help him solve the mystery and catch the monsters.
