Shock among residents after report of stabbing in Dudley Street

Both ends of Buffery Road in Dudley were taped off by police on Friday afternoon after a man was found on the road with serious stab wounds, with two other injured men who were treated at the scene by the West Midlands Ambulance Service staff.

The man was taken to hospital, while two men were arrested in connection with the incident, which saw several cars and officers from West Midlands Police along the stretch between Green Road and Summerfield Road and both ends were taped.

Traffic on the road, which runs from the Kates Hill area of Dudley to Netherton, was diverted from the scene, while bus services were also diverted along other routes.

For residents of Buffery Road, the incident came as a surprise, with one resident, who asked to remain anonymous, calling it a big shock.

She said: “I just found out and I’m really shocked that something like this would happen on my doorstep.

A resident, who asked to remain anonymous, said he was surprised to learn of the knife attack.

He said: “It’s a shock because I’ve always found it a nice area and it’s not something you expect to see here.

“I don’t know all the details yet because I’m hearing about it from other people, but I’m just surprised to hear that someone was stabbed here.”

The incident occurred in the afternoon and police were still on scene a few hours later.

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: “We were called to Buffery Road, Dudley, just after 2.05pm today (June 21).

“A man was found seriously injured by a stab wound.

“Two men have been arrested and will be questioned in due course.
