Enterprise Police ready to take advantage of new space; Phase one 4 to 6 months after completion

ENTERPRISE, Ala. (WDHN) — In four to six months, the Enterprise Police Department will move from limited space on the main floor of Enterprise City Hall to a new, completely renovated department that will occupy all the ground floor.

A place that authorities hope will be easier for residents to find than in the past.

“Now there will be numerous notifications of where you are going, how you make contact with an officer, including an officer greeting him directly if he has a problem,” the police chief said. Enterprise, Michael Moore.

The new police department will feature a single entrance to the facility, a loading dock, jail cells, training areas, conference rooms and a state-of-the-art E-911 office that will be one of the safest areas in the city. .

It’s all part of the first phase of the City Hall project, which aims to modernize the more than 50-year-old structure and prepare the city for the future.

“We’ve tried to make arrangements in the building to prepare for the next 10 to 20 years and I think it looks pretty good,” Moore said.

Earlier this year, Enterprise officials and employees gathered to tour work being done on the $7.8 million project.

On Monday, after a public meeting regarding the project, they were given another tour of the work being done on the building.

“Even though the exterior looks like 1968 City Hall, the interior work and when we finish the exterior, it will become a modern facility,” said City of Enterprise engineer Barry Mott. “The public should see the efficiency benefits when working with staff. “

After completing the new police department, crews will move up one floor to work on phase two of the project, which involves updating the interior of the top floor. This is expected to be completed by February 2025.

Then the third phase will begin, which involves modernizing and improving the exterior of the building. This is expected to end in March 2025.
