The latest WhatsApp beta is said to improve the texting experience with video messages in chat threads.

A dive into the version 2.24.14.5 Since the beta version of WhatsApp on Android, WABetaInfo has discovered a new shortcut for replying to video messages (via Android Police). The beta now shows a small icon next to a video message, which looks like a camera with a reply arrow moving to the left.

An update like this should bring a bit more convenience to the previous video response system. WhatsApp requires users to manually replay a video and access its menu before creating their response. The shortcut removes extra steps by providing a quick and easy-to-use button to reply and send.

It is unclear when this update will arrive for all stable users of the messaging app, however, the new beta version is available through the Play Store.

The post adds that the Quick Reply shortcut is showing up for “some” testers, meaning it’s still rolling out and more should see it as the week goes on.

This beta marks the second iterative update to improve the video experience in WhatsApp, while another has improved its quality. Appearing in beta 2.24.13.10 earlier in June, the service tested an option to set the default quality of uploads to HD. Testing has shown that WhatsApp intends to allow HD photo uploads And videos once testing is complete.

The decision to include videos in the mix is likely due to the addition of HD photo uploads last August. The platform warns that choosing to download in HD quality will consume more bandwidth and storage space.

A more recent stable update improved the app’s video and voice calling experience. WhatsApp rolled out updates such as “Speaker Spotlight” and finally introduced audio in the screen sharing feature. Additionally, older devices have received an update, which should facilitate crystal clear calls regardless of device age on Android and iOS.
