Belvidere Park District opens new sensory room

BELVIDERE, Ill. (WIFR) – The Belvidere Park District is introducing an Oasis Room to its special recreation center.

On June 27 at 3 p.m., the Park District held a ribbon cutting ceremony at the Belvidere Park Special Recreation Facility, 6851 Revlon Drive.

According to the Belvidere Park District, “An Oasis Room, also called a sensory room, is a safe, calming space designed to help people with sensory issues learn to regulate their brain’s negative reactions to external stimuli by developing coping skills for those experiences.”
