Jewish actor Paul Rudd, known for his roles in “Ant-Man” and “Clueless,” recently said that if he could meet anyone, he would want to meet Jesus. The 55-year-old actor is Jewish, but he said he doesn’t identify as “particularly religious.” However, while promoting the film “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire,” the actor told IGV Presents that if he could talk to anyone throughout history, he would want to talk to Jesus, and he’s not ashamed to say so.

Rudd said, “Whoever in history would we choose? I know my answer, Jesus Christ.” His co-stars, Mckenna Grace and Finn Wolfhard, burst out laughing. Rudd said, “By the way, laugh all you want! It seems like a bad thing to say.” Wolfhard then asked, “Was he real?” Rudd replied, “He was real! So wouldn’t you like to spend some time with him and say, ‘Jesus, what’s the big deal?'” Grace replied, “That’s a fantastic answer.” Still waiting for his co-stars to answer the same question, Rudd shot back, “Come on. I had Jesus. Who did you have?” Rudd said, “You say that, and people think, ‘Whoa, whoa, whoa, you can’t say that,’ and I say, ‘Well, why?’ He’s the one I’d choose.” » The “Ant-Man” actor has two children with his wife, Julie Yaeger: son Jack, 17, and daughter Darby, 13.

In a previous interview with People magazinewhere Rudd spoke more about his family, he said, “When I think of myself, I think of myself as a husband and a father, as I am. I spend time with my family when I’m not working. That’s what I love most.” While he doesn’t consider himself religious or lead his family that way, Rudd has spoken before about his Jewish faith. “My whole family is Jewish; my wife, Julie, is Jewish — there’s no one in my family who’s not Jewish,” he told the Jewish Journal in a 2012 interview.

Rudd continued, “I was a Reform bar mitzvah; we were pretty laid back, but it’s like, oh yeah, I went to synagogue. We have a lineage that’s thousands of years old that you just talked about. It’s a tribe; it’s like, ‘Oh, yeah, this is my team,’ and I definitely feel that.” Rudd’s father, Michael Rudd, passed away in 2008. In an interview with Peoplethe actor described the spiritual ideas his father, a British immigrant and Vietnam veteran, shared with him. During a particular conversation about “religion and spirituality,” Rudd said, “It was an important time to spend with my father. »

Rudd said People “If he could talk to his father now, he would ask him what the afterlife is like, including whether he was able to meet all of his deceased loved ones. “Did you stop at the grandparents’ house, or did you have great-great-grandparents who you never knew who were like, ‘Mike, finally. I’m happy to see you”. Wait until you see what it’s all about. Prepare to be blown away. »
