Douglas is canceledthe new comedy-drama of Doctor Who And Sherlock showrunner Steven Moffatstarted airing on ITV this week, and it’s already sparking lively conversations.

The stars of the new series that divide Hugues Bonneville as a well-known news anchor who finds himself at the center of a high-profile controversy when he is exposed for making a sexist joke at a wedding.

Despite hopes that everything will work out, her co-host Madeline (played by Karen Gillan) has other projects in mind.

Hugh Bonneville plays the new incumbents present in Douglas Is Cancelled, but Downton Abbey fans don’t need to be told that the actor is, of course, playing the Earl of Grantham Robert Crawley in the British period drama.

THE BAFTA-The nominated actor is also known for playing Mr. Brown in the highly acclaimed Paddington films, as well as previous roles on TV shows like The Gold, Twenty Twelve and its follow-upW1A.

But perhaps you first saw Hugh on the big screen in Notting Hill, where he played a clueless stockbroker who asks Julia Roberts’ famous character, “What do you do for a job?” »

Maybe you will recognize Karen Gillanwho plays co-presenter Madeline in Douglas is canceled, it’s better when she’s painted head to toe in blue playing the anti-hero Nebula in wonderIt is Guardians of the Galaxy And Avengers: Endgame.

But you probably first knew her as Amy Pond, companion of the Eleventh Doctor. Matt Smith In Doctor Who.

She has also participated in big films like Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, The Big Short and Oculus. Her most recent film role was in the crime thriller Sleeping Dogs, appearing on screen opposite Russell Crowe.

Alex Kingston

Alex Kingston, who plays Douglas’ wife Sheila in the new series, is another former Doctor Who actress who will be familiar to fans of the show, having played assassin and archaeologist River Song between 2008 and 2015.

However, her longest-running television role was as Elizabeth Corday on ER for over a decade. In 1996, she also starred in the television miniseries The Fortunes And Misfortunes Of Moll Flanders with Daniel Craigand played Boudica in the 2003 film of the same name.

Grange Hill fans may even remember that she appeared in a few episodes of the British children’s series as Jill Harcourt.

Most recently, she played Sarah Bishop in Sky’s A Discovery of Witches and Audrey Gratz in Netflix Treason.

Ben Miles

Before Ben Miles played TV boss Toby in Douglas is canceled, he was part of one of the saddest stories of The crownrepresenting Princess Margaret’s lost true love, Peter Townsend.

He has also appeared in TV shows like Dracula, The Capture, Andor, Hijack and the Black mirror Hated In The Nation episode, which also explored what is known as “cancel culture.”

Meanwhile, Ben Film roles in recent years include the spy thriller Red Joan with Judi Dench And Ridley Scottit’s Napoleon with Joaquin Phoenix (which, coincidentally, also stars Vanessa Kirbywho played Princess Margaret in the Netflix royal drama).

Nick Mohammed

In addition to playing television writer Morgan, comedian Nick Mohammed is best known on screen for playing assistant coach Nathan Shelley in Ted Lasso.

He created and starred in Intelligence with FriendsDavid Schwimmerand can also be found in Renegade Nell, Stath Lets Flats, and Fresh Meat.

His resume also includes impressive film credits, including The Martian and Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie.

Simon Russell Beale

Bafta-winning actor Simon Russell Beale plays Bently Cassock in the new series, and is also known for previous TV roles including Penny Dreadful, Spooks and Dunkirk.

He is known among theater fans as an acclaimed stage actor, having appeared in productions like Uncle Vanya and The Lehman Trilogy.

His biggest film credits include, The Hollow Crown, a dance to the music of timeThor: Love And Thunder and the death of Stalin.

You may have also seen him in the last season of House Of The Dragon, playing Simon Strong.

Madeleine Power

Douglas Is Canceled is Madeleine Power’s biggest screen role to date, playing the title character’s outspoken daughter, who has a lot to say about the controversy in which he finds himself at the center.

You may have already seen Madeleine in the Netflix drama The Last Kingdom.

Before landing the role of Pilot Tom on Douglas Is Canceled, chances are you knew Joe Wilkinson for his work as a stand-up comic, contributing to panels like Have I Got News For You, Taskmaster and, more specifically, 8 out of 10 cats countdown.

He does, however, have plenty of acting experience, appearing as the slightly annoying neighbour in Him & Her and as a supporting actor in the comedy Sky Rovers, which he also co-wrote.

All four episodes of Douglas Is Canceled are available on ITVX NOW. The show will also air weekly on Thursday evenings at 9pm on ITV1, starting June 27.
