Real Madrid announces player transfer

Real Madrid announced the transfer of one of its former first team players through an official statement published on social networks and on the club’s website.

“Real Madrid CF, after exercising its option to acquire the rights of the player Joselu Mato from RCD Espanyol, has reached an agreement with Al-Gharafa SC for the transfer of our player,” the statement begins.

“Joselu arrived at the Real Madrid training center in 2010 at the age of 20 and joined Castilla, where he played 2 seasons and participated in promotion to the Second Division in the 2011-2012 season.

“During this 2023-2024 season, during which Joselu played at Real Madrid, he played 49 matches, scored 18 goals and won three titles: a Champions League, a La Liga and a Spanish Super Cup.”

Real Madrid highlighted Joselu’s exploits in the second leg of the Champions League semi-final against Bayern Munich, where he was “a very important player in reaching the final at Wembley and winning the 15th European Cup.”

Joselu came on in the 81st minute when all seemed lost after Madrid target man Alphonso Davies came off the bench and fired a rocket past Andriy Lunin.

This goal allowed the Bavarians to lead 3-2 on total and lead 1-0 in the evening.

But with little room to spare, Joselu had other ideas and became a Madrid hero forever as he scored twice with goals in the 88th and 91st minutes that booked his club’s place in the final where Los Blancos beat the Borussia Dortmund 2-0.

Concluding its statement, Real Madrid thanked Joselu “for his professionalism and his madrilism”, and wanted to show “all its affection to him and his family, to whom it wishes good luck in this new stage of their lives”.

As mentioned, this will take place in Qatar, where Joselu is Al-Gharafa’s latest signing in the Qatar Stars League.

Joselu is the second departure from the Spanish capital to the Middle East this week, with former captain Nacho’s departure to Al-Qadsiah in the Saudi Pro League also being announced a few days ago.
