Gulfam Khan Hussain: The entourage culture is unfair to the producers and the entire team

THE surrounding culture has indeed taken the industry by the storm, as Anurag Kashyap observed. Actress Gulfam Khan Husseinwhich is currently seen in the TV show Dhruv Tara moved the debate forward, echoing a similar sentiment. The actress, who will now be seen in the web series Waack Girls, explains that entourage culture should not be encouraged because it is not fair to the producers of a project. She said: “It’s unfair to the producer, the co-actors and how the costs incurred affect the entire team. I have seen cases where the artist’s staff acts harsher than the artist and we, as co-actors, simply have to sit back and observe.
She added, “With social media becoming important for actors, there are social media teams appointed by actors to make BTS videos and reels. It is good to create reels and become influencers too, but it should not interfere with the work on the sets and their costs should be borne by the actor and not the production house.” Further explaining that she has only one assistant with her on the set, the actress said, “My assistant is my driver-escort. He has strict instructions regarding boundaries.”
Gulfam also explains how a large entourage can significantly increase costs and create a crowded and potentially disruptive environment on sets. She said: “It’s good to have your make-up artist, your hairdresser and your boy on set. But you have to check that they don’t cross boundaries and disturb others. If you are threatened or have afraid of being attacked, you can have bodyguards around, but not on the floor where you work. I do my own makeup and for hair, I trust the professionals appointed by the producers. no separate hairdresser or social media manager accompanying me.”
