Chelsea reject possibility of signing Man Utd outcast offered to Arsenal and Man City

Manchester United’s efforts to offload Jadon Sancho have reportedly been dealt a blow after a Premier League rival opted not to sign him.

After leaving Manchester City’s academy for Borussia Dortmund in 2017, the winger rose to prominence in the Bundesliga.

Sancho made his debut for Dortmund at the age of 17, but it wasn’t until the following season, in 2018/19, that he truly proved himself.

The former Watford academy player scored 13 goals and registered 20 assists that season, bettering that the following campaign with 20 goals and 20 assists, before ending his time at BVB with a further 16 goals and 20 assists in 2020/21.

It was enough for Man Utd to come calling, with the England international joining for £73million in the summer of 2021 on a five-year deal.

Since then, however, things have not gone to plan for Sancho at Old Trafford. He has scored just 12 goals and registered a measly six assists in 82 appearances – a far cry from the numbers he was putting up at Dortmund.

To cap it all, he hasn’t played for United for almost a year after falling out with manager Erik ten Hag.

The former Ajax boss left the winger out of United’s squad to face Arsenal last August, with the Dutchman claiming he was not selected because of his poor training.

After the match, Ten Hag said of Sancho’s absence: “Due to his performance in training, we didn’t select him. At Manchester United, you have to reach the level every day. We can make choices in attack, so in this match, he was not selected. »

Sancho, who has made three appearances this season for the Red Devils, appeared exasperated by the decision and took to social media to share his side of the story.

He wrote on Instagram: “Please don’t believe everything you read! I won’t allow people to say completely untrue things, I performed very well in training this week. I think there are other reasons for this matter which I will not go into, I have been the scapegoat for a long time, which is not fair!

After being forced to train with United’s youth teams, Sancho eventually joined former club Dortmund on loan for the second half of the season in January – but not before the Red Devils offered him to the teams in the Saudi Pro League that month.

The 24-year-old, whose contract at United runs until 2026, has managed to regain some of his former poise at BVB, playing a key role in leading them to the Champions League final – a game they eventually lost 2-0 to Real Madrid at Wembley.

United are trying all sorts of avenues to sell Sancho, who is unlikely to play for the Premier League side again while Ten Hag is on the bench.

Chelsea rejects Sancho gamble

TEAMtalk previously revealed Manchester United have offered Sancho to Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester City – with reports suggesting they are hoping to secure £40million for his services.

Now, journalist Simon Phillips Chelsea claim to have turned down the opportunity to sign Sancho, with the Blues well-stocked with wide men such as Raheem Sterling, Mykhailo Mudryk, Noni Madueke and the versatile Cole Palmer.

Dortmund are reportedly keen to bring Sancho back on loan next season, but United are keen on a permanent move in the coming weeks and months.

The Bundesliga side are unlikely to fetch a price tag close to £40million, however, meaning Sancho could be in limbo this summer.
