Manchester City have now been offered the chance to sign a £73m player they sold in 2017

Many players have left Manchester City throughout Pep Guardiola’s tenure at the club.

Since the 53-year-old took charge of the Citizens in 2016, players such as Leroy Sane, Raheem Sterling and Cole Palmer have bid farewell to the Etihad Stadium to join other clubs.

With another summer transfer window currently open, some interesting behind-the-scenes information has been revealed about how City came to have the opportunity to potentially bring one of their former players back to the club.

Manchester United offer Manchester City the chance to sign Jadon Sancho

According to a recent report from TEAMtalk, Manchester United have offered City, as well as Arsenal and Chelsea, the chance to sign Jadon Sancho this summer.

The report also adds that the Red Devils would ideally like to land the winger for £40million this summer, but would be willing to approve a season-long loan deal that would see one of the three clubs contacted sign Sancho on a permanent basis at the end of the loan.

City should not consider signing Sancho

After making 35 appearances for City’s youth side, the club sold Sancho to Borussia Dortmund in the 2017 summer transfer window.

In 2021, United spent £73million (via BBC Sport) to bring the 24-year-old to Old Trafford before loaning him to Dortmund last January after a public falling out with Erik ten Hag.

During his time with the Red Devils, the former City youth player scored 12 goals and provided just six assists in 82 appearances in all competitions.

Even though Erling Haaland called his former Dortmund team-mate a “good player” in January, we don’t think City should consider signing Sancho this summer, regardless of United’s willingness to sell him for significantly less than they paid for him in the first place.
