Shocking moment: Boxing referee attacked after stopping fight

CHAOS broke out during a boxing clash when a fighter and a referee ended up throwing punches at each other.

In the Dominican Republic, Angel Cruz faced Julio de Jesus Rodriguez in a super welterweight clash.

But in the second round, there was huge controversy when Cruz landed a powerful right hand on his opponent.

This led to De Jesus falling to his knees before quickly getting back up.

But the referee saw enough and stopped the fight to give victory to his 29-year-old rival.

As the official waved his arm in front of Cruz, he angrily pushed him away.

Before furiously rushing to the other side of the ring and landing a right hook on the referee’s head.

The officer did not initially fight back, but then rushed at Cruz and attempted to punch him.

His punch missed its target and the referee then rushed away from the stage and jumped out of the ring.

The crazy incident shocked fans, with one saying: “To casually approach the referee and hit him is madness.”

Another added: “This is one of the craziest boxing clips I’ve seen. Swinging at a ref is almost unheard of, the ref swinging back is once in a century. “
