NBA insider says Eastern Conference contender ready to ‘aggressively pursue’ Paul George

Star forward Paul George is ready to test the open market after declining his player option on Saturday.

There would be no shortage of interest, as Chris Haynes, an NBA insider for TNT and Bleacher Report, said that “the Philadelphia 76ers are expected to aggressively pursue Paul George and are a legitimate threat to lure the star away from Los Angeles, according to sources”.

George and the Sixers have been a pairing for weeks now, and it appears their front office has a real opportunity to pry him out of Los Angeles. Philadelphia holds some of the most cap space in the NBA, meaning the veteran forward can ask for whatever max contract he desires.

Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey proved to be one of the most exciting duos in the league, but they lacked a consistent scorer alongside them. George, who averaged 22.6 points on 47.1% shooting last season, could perfectly fill the void the 76ers need to fill to compete with the Boston Celtics and New York Knicks.
