Salem City Council to consider amending animal code, moving forward with sewer project

The Salem City Council will be asked Monday night to update the animal and poultry ordinance. City Manager Annette Sola says the ordinance is incorrect in several areas and City Attorney Mike Jones has submitted revisions that will be presented to the City Council.

The City Council will consider approval of the sole bid to replace sanitary sewer lines along Illinois Street from Cedar to Spruce Street and from Spruce Street west to the end of the line. Haier Plumbing’s bid for $353,216 was lower than the engineers’ estimate.

Tenders will be opened for three pieces of public works equipment previously listed as surplus.

The Council will also conduct its biannual review of the minutes of closed meetings to determine which minutes should remain in closed session.

The meeting begins at six o’clock Monday evening at Salem City Hall.
