SZA breaks silence after fans complain about Glastonbury performance

SZA has spoken out following backlash to her Glastonbury 2024 performance from fans.

Sunday (June 30) marked the final day of Glastonbury after a weekend packed with performances, celebrity appearances and iconic musical moments.

On Friday night, British singer and first headliner of the year Dua Lipa attracted thousands of festival-goers to the colossal Pyramid stage, where she gave her fans food for discussion with her dance moves at Breathtaking.

The following evening, much-loved British band Coldplay took to the same stage, where frontman Chris Martin left fans teary-eyed after releasing Back to the future Michael J Fox, star and Parkinson’s patient, for a special performance.

Country music legend Shania Twain sent the crowd into a frenzy yesterday afternoon after performing her most popular anthems, “Man, I Feel Like A Woman” and “That Don’t Impress Me Much.”

However, as the final night of the Somerset festival rolled around, it seemed that the participants had become increasingly tough.

So much so that cameras saw the crowds on the Pyramid Stage as unusually sparse when much-loved singer SZA took the stage that night as the final headliner.

But what could have gone wrong for the “Kill Bill” singer?

According to many who were In attendance, the singer’s set was apparently littered with issues beyond her control after she then performed an impressive set at a separate event in London the same night.

“Naaah I’m sorry but these mic issues are definitely a Glastonbury problem because SZA sounded amazing at @BSTHydePark last night,” one wrote on social media.

Another wrote: “FIX SZA’S MIC NOW #Glastonbury.”

“Justice for Sza!! What did Glastonbury do to her mic to make her voice sound like that, it’s atrocious,” said a third.

Today (July 1), “The Weekend” singer posted an Instagram message about the event – however, she didn’t appear to address any technical issues.

Sharing a snap from the prestigious event, she wrote: “Tonight I faced my fears. Tonight my entire team made the impossible possible!!”

The 34-year-old hitmaker went on to thank her “incredible” dancers, her “fiery band” and “every single person who helped make this possible”.

She continued: “Thank you from the bottom of my heart for dreaming with me – Glastonbury 2024.”
