Postal service celebrates India’s Cricket World Cup victory with philatelic tribute | Bombay News

MUMBAI: The Maharashtra Postal Circle on Monday issued a special ‘cancellation’ to celebrate Indian cricket’s historic victory in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. The cancellation is available on Mumbai GPO.

Amitabh Singh, Minister of Posts (Mails and Trade Development), issued the cancellation at the GPO in the presence of Kishan Kumar Sharma, Chief Postmaster General and senior officials of GPO Mumbai and Mumbai region.

A press release issued on Monday said, “The Department of Posts has a tradition of commemorating significant national events through philatelic tributes to preserve and celebrate India’s cultural and sporting achievements. This special cancellation is a testament to the nation’s prowess in the world cricket arena and reflects the Department of Posts’ dedication to promoting national pride through philately.”

While handing over the memento, Amitabh Singh said, “We are delighted to mark India’s World Cup triumph with this special postmark. This initiative not only celebrates the exceptional performance of our cricket team but also highlights the role of the Department of Posts in commemorating such important occasions.”
