Meet JCPS, Education Reporter at the Courier Journal’s Mobile Newsroom

There are so many things in the community that impact the lives of children and their families, and I want to know more about them.

As an education reporter for The Courier Journal, I strive to tell stories that inform and provide context for the challenges our children and those around them face. I also love telling stories about their accomplishments and highlighting the progress they’ve made. But with everything going on, I know there are things I’m missing.

That’s where you come in! Every Wednesday through October, I’ll be working at one of Louisville’s many libraries and community centers in hopes that you’ll stop by and share your thoughts with me. I want to hear your concerns, your questions, your personal stories. While my primary job is covering education, I’m interested in anything that involves children.

Other Courier Journal reporters who cover a wide variety of topics will also be with me to hear your thoughts. This is part of our mobile newsroom initiative, which has taken us to nearly a dozen communities across the city over the past three years. Our goal is to improve our staff’s relationships with community members so we can provide better coverage across Louisville.

Our first stop of 2024 was at Valley Station, and now we’re heading to the California Community Center from 11am-5pm weekdays, July 8-19.

We will have a few giveaways at the stops, including Cirque de Soleil tickets at the KFC Yum Center and Raising Cane’s gift cards.

In addition to my regular Wednesday appearance, the following journalists and editors will have regular shifts at the library:

After the California district, we will be at:

  • Northeast Regional Library in Lyndon from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays, August 5-16
  • Logan Street Market in the Shelby Park neighborhood from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, September 3-13

We will also be in Oldham County from October 7th to 18th, but we are still working out the details.

If you can’t come visit me, you can always contact me at [email protected].
