Chaffee BoCC to Review Grant Application to Colorado Energy Office for “Energy Efficiency and Conservation Grant Program” – by Jan Wondra

The Chaffee County Board of Commissioners (BoCC) will meet for its regular session at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 16 at the Buena Vista Community Center, 715 E. Main Street Buena Vista. On the agenda is the review of a grant application to the Colorado Energy Office for the state’s “Energy Efficiency and Conservation Grant Program.”

Among the contracts and grants under consideration are a discussion and decision regarding the U.S. Forest Service Volunteer Detector Network grant agreement, and a letter of intent to support a grant application to the Colorado Garden Foundation for a demonstration garden and fairgrounds entrance beautification.

The BoCC will consider approval of a grant application, with the City of Salida as a co-applicant, from the Colorado Energy Office. The grant application for the “Energy Efficiency and Conservation Grant Program” supports local government staff capacity and regional collaboration. Beth Helmke, Chaffee’s Deputy City Administrator, and Sara Law, Salida’s Deputy City Clerk, will review the program’s potential for the county.

There is only one regular item on the agenda: approval of Resolution 2024-48 approving the application for a special event permit with conditions for the concert at Meadows Farm on June 26-29, 2025. The special event permit was a major topic of discussion at the July 8 BoCC meeting.

On the consent agenda are acceptance of the Sheriff’s Office Monthly Report for June 2024, the Treasurer’s Monthly Report for June 2024 and approval of Resolution 2024-50 amending the Planning Commission’s decision for the Trilogy Harvard Subdivision Preliminary Plan.

There is only one item on the consent hearing agenda, the review and approval of the Hart Plat Amendment located at 18101 County Road 271. The request is to move the access easement on the plat to align with the existing roadway on the property.
