“But filming there would be fantastic,” he jokes, before acknowledging that Jackman is in fact “a first-class Australian”.

Australian fans would be delighted to see Jackman back on home soil for another game. dead Pool film, but all of this remains hypothetical at this stage.

He will finally be able to reclaim his Guinness World Record for “longest career as a live-action Marvel character,” which was snatched from him in 2022 by Patrick Stewart, who spent 21 years as Professor Charles Xavier.

Some would call Jackman’s dedication admirable; Reynolds calls it “crazy.”

“It was crazy… just the commitment and dedication,” he said, “and the humiliation of being in a gym with him.”

Reynolds was in the audience when Jackman returned to Broadway in a revival of The man of music in 2022 and said the man he saw on stage and the man who showed up to film Deadpool and Wolverine it couldn’t have been more different.

“To go from this guy who had the body of the Peanuts mascot, or Tommy Tune… to this larger-than-life superhero, it was crazy,” Reynolds says.

All those muscles aren’t just for show, either; Jackman performed most of his own stunts for the film, drawing on his dance training for some of the more complex choreography.

“There are sequences in this movie where there’s not a single frame of a stuntman. (Jackman) does all the choreography, all the shots, all the falls, all the jumps,” Reynolds says.

“He didn’t hire a stunt double for me,” Jackman retorts with another laugh, “I wanted one but he said no!”

Reynolds is convinced his co-star made a deal with the devil to be able to do all this at 55.

“We moved his trailer and there’s a fucking pentagram on the floor,” he jokes. “I was like, ‘Yeah! I knew it!’”

Despite being eight years Jackman’s junior, Reynolds had to refrain from the more intense stunts during filming.

“I love stunts (but) I’ve spent so many years doing it that I’m so broken,” he admits.

In 2022, Reynolds said Jimmy Fallon that he had broken 12 bones and had undergone seven surgeries as a result of all his injuries from action movies, and that he was not looking to increase that number on set Deadpool and Wolverine.

“I can usually do ‘fighty fighty’ type stuff, (but) if you see me do something where I do a triple axel quadruple flip and land on my own eyelid, that’s a stunt,” he says, before focusing on Jackman.

“Then you watch this guy – excuse me, this asshole – go out and do everything!”

Jackman just laughs and shrugs, unfazed as ever. And why wouldn’t he be?

The 55-year-old Australian is truly Hollywood’s ultimate triple threat; he does his own stunts, he can sing, he can dance.

And with all that “fighting” and the physical demands of a blockbuster like this, it’s a wonder Reynolds and Jackman aren’t tired.

For Reynolds, at least, he is fully aware of the sacrifices he is making to bring Deadpool vs Wolverine live.

“I have the best job ever, but some of the sacrifices I have to make are that I’m not home as much as I’d like to be with my family,” the actor admitted during his stay in Seoul.

“That’s why I haven’t done it in six years, because it swallows up my whole life.”
