Promise Village Inaugural Festival Cancelled

The inauguration The Promised Village The music festival, which was set to feature current R&B, hip-hop and Afrobeats stars, was cancelled less than two weeks after it was announced due to “unforeseen circumstances”. General ticket sales for the festival only began on Monday (July 15).

Promise Village, which was due to take over Langley Park in Perth for one day – Saturday 12 October – welcomed international headliners J Hus, Rema, And Jorja Smith. He also locked up stars such as Headie One, Nemzzz, Uncle Wafflesand more, with Yung Filly to host the event.

“Due to unforeseen circumstances, Promise Village will no longer take place on October 12, 2024,” the notice reads.

“Refunds were processed automatically, so no action is required. Please allow up to 5 business days for funds to reach the account used for purchase.”

Co-director of Promise Village, Emal Naimsaid Perth today that the festival had been cancelled due to low ticket sales and a lack of support from local government.

“Unfortunately it didn’t live up to initial expectations and there wasn’t a lot of support to support the costs, it just wasn’t feasible anymore,” Naim – who grew up in Perth – told the outlet.

The Promise Village festival will not be rescheduled and Naim and his team may not bring any more events to Perth. The festival’s co-director said: “We have made the decision not to come back to Perth for an indefinite period, we are afraid to do so.”

Announcing the festival last Monday (July 8), Naim commented in a press release: “Perth has been waiting a long time for this festival, and we look forward to hosting a world-class music festival for a patiently awaiting community of fans.”

Earlier this year, the inaugural Souled Out festival brought together Bryson Tiller, Summer Walker, PARTYNEXTDOOR, Tinasheand more in Australia, with destinations including Sydney, the Gold Coast and Melbourne in March.

Promiseland, billed as Australia’s largest multicultural festival, has welcomed a whopping 79 artists to this year’s event, which will take place at Doug Jennings Park on the Gold Coast in early October.

The Rocks of Pandemonium The festival was also hit by reports of cancellations and revealed a modified composition. In the meantime, Vagabond announced that it had moved to a biennial format, while Falls and Mona Foma’s winter brother, Dark Mofo, took breaks in 2023 and 2024. Woodford Folk Festival also encourages punters to support the event more than ever in these uncertain times.
